The Counterserum

Ben strolled down the road, gazing at the sky as the sun started to rise, with Nova Blue about to fade into the horizon. The green of the forest was within his sight as he walked on to greet his love.
"Kylia?" he called out, "You here? We gotta get to school!"
Just then, a creature leaped out of a large bush. It pinned Ben down on to the cool grass. But instead of fright, Ben was laughing as if he had just been tickled. "Kylia! What're you doing?" Surely enough, it was his favorite wolf-girl in the entire universe. She lay on top of him with a grin from ear to ear. He looked at her, as beautiful as she ever was. Thick, brown fur covered her from top to bottom. Her large yellow eyes were deep enough to get lost in. Her claws, her sharp teeth, her pointed ears, she Kylia had all the features of a savage beast. But beneath all the fur, she was a kind young woman who had taken to caring for a simple human teenage boy like himself.
"Scared ya, didn't I?" Kylia replied in her usually sweet tone. She licked him on the face and nibbled him on the ear.
"Hey! Stop! We're going to be late for school!"
"Forget about school. Let's just make love here." She then gave him a passionate kiss and they held each other tightly.
"You know," Ben said as he pulled away, "You are not like any girl I've ever gotten with!"
"Have you ever gotten with a wolf-girl before?" Kylia gave him a big smile.
"No, they're not. And I'm glad. I don't think I could ask anyone else to get down on all fours and act like an animal during sex."
"Playing out your fantasies, huh? We oughta do something about that. What do you say about right now?"
Ben pondered the opportunity for a second, "Geez, Kylia! You're unusually passionate this morning."
"And why not? It's my seventeenth birthday today!"
They both got up on their feet. "Oh, that's right! I forgot all about it!"
Kylia smirked, "You're kidding, right?"
Ben had a long face, "I'm sorry. Let's talk about it on the way to school, c'mon!"
Kylia didn't walk more than ten steps before she stopped dead in her tracks, "Hey! You don't have some sort of party planned for me, do you?"
"I said I was sorry."
"Seriously, Ben! What's going on?"
"Nothing! I forgot, alright? Come on, we're going to be late for first class."

The school was a short distance from the forest. Ben and Kylia talked about everything on the way to school. Homework in theoretical physics, the school's track team, the concert later that night at Capital Stadium, everything. And every minute or so, Ben had to reassure Kylia that there was no surprise party waiting for her in homeroom.
"I hate surprises," Kylia told Ben.
"So do I."

"SURPRISE!!"
And surely enough, the entire class was there to greet Kylia at the door. They were met with a shocked look on her face.
"I love surprises," Ben grinned.
Kylia folded her arms, "You all planned this, didn't you? And you, Ben, you knew all along!"
"Happy birthday, Kylia," Kylia's fellow classmate, Ne'reth, a deer-girl, told her as she lifted up a big birthday cake.
She looked in awe at the cake, decorated in many colors and lighted up with birthday candles. "Thanks, guys!" she said, "You're all gonna pay for this!"
"Yep," Jerry, a human male, said, "She's surprised alright."
"I agree," Falin, the fox-boy, added, "Kylia, have some cake, it's your favorite."

"You should've seen the look on your face!" Ben chuckled as they walked on to Kylia's home.
"I knew all along," Kylia retorted.
"Oh, come on, be honest."
"Well...I guess I had a bit of doubt."
He snapped his fingers, "I knew it!"
"But...thanks for throwing the party. I enjoyed it. I love you." At that, Kylia gave Ben a kiss on the cheek.
"It was nothing," Ben blushed, "And I love you too."
They walked down a bit of distance, when Ben spoke up again, "Kylia..."
"What is it?"
"Why do you love me?"
Kylia turned her head, "Why? Because you are kind...and generous...and affectionate...and you are very, VERY cute."
"Yeah, but why me? You could've had your pick from all the other boys in town. All the other foxes, the lions, or wolves. But you chose me, a human. Why?"
"Ben...I chose you, because I see all the other hybrids and humans as just friends. But you, you make me laugh, you make me special. And you make me happy. That's all I want."
Ben returned her smile with his own, "Fun's not over yet. Still have something to give you when we get to your house."
"What?"
"Now now, you've gone through a lot of surprises today. You can handle one more."

In Kylia's bedroom, Kylia closely examined Ben's gift to her. It was a small medi-vial with blue liquid inside. Ben looked at her, searching for a sense of approval.
"What is this?" Kylia asked Ben as she examined the medi-vial, "I mean, what's in it?"
"It's your gift," Ben replied, anxious and hoping that she would take it.
"But I'm not sick," Kylia grinned, "I don't need medicine."
"It's not medicine," Ben said, "It's very special, from Earth. Just take it."
"Nothing bad, right?"
"Just take it! You'll love it, I promise."
"Alright, alright," she said as she peered into the mirror. She brushed the fur on her arm away to find a spot to inject the medi-vial. After a moment of hesitation, she took the vial and injected the contents into her system. "Now are you going to tell me what I just took?"
"You'll see. Don't you trust me?"
"With my life, Ben, but you know I hate surprises!"
And she did get a surprise. Shock was more like it. All over her body, she could feel her fur...retracting? She looked in the mirror. Her beautiful brown fur was disappearing, leaving bare skin. "What did you do to me?" Kylia demanded an answer as she looked with fear at her changing features. Her slowly muzzle flattened into her face as she slid her tongue around to find that her sharp canine teeth were shortening and becoming just as long as her other teeth. Instinctively, she made fists of her hands and felt her claws getting shorter. She tried to howl in fear, but she simply strained her vocal chords in doing so.
"Just go with it," Ben said.
"What do you mean, 'go with it'? My voice!" Kylia still had her voice, but the occasional growling sounds that accompanied her speech were no longer there. As the fur continued to disappear, she found out that she also was losing mass. Her tight-fitted clothing became loose, and she could easily slip out of her rather large shoes.
Finally, the transformation stopped.
"Ben," Kylia spoke softly, "What just happened to me?"
"Look in the mirror," Ben smiled, "Oh man, you're very beautiful."
Kylia looked in the mirror, and what gazed back shocked her.
"I'm...I'm human!?" Kylia opened her eyes and looked into the mirror.
"You always were human, Kylia," Ben responded, "The serum is just restoring your human features."
Kylia pushed Ben away in shock, "What are you talking about?"
"Just sit down, I'll explain everything!"
She did so, hoping for a deatiled and accurate explanation.
"Kylia, when animal-hybrids were first created, scientists also created a counterserum if there were any side effects to the animal-serum that turns humans into hybrids."
"You mean...you mean I'm no longer a wolf-girl? Ben!?"
"No, I didn't say that. The counterserum was developed over six hundred years ago. Since then, the biology of hybrids evolved greatly so that they can never be fully human again. They say the serum only provides temporary effects."
Kylia was relieved, "How long?"
"I don't know. It's completely safe, there's no problem. Besides, I thought you'd like it! Something different for your birthday!"
"So...just temporary? I'll return to being a wolf-girl again?"
"The one I've always loved. For now, just look at yourself. Tell me that you love it."
Kylia examined herself again. For the time, she was a beautiful human teenager with long brown hair extending down to her hips. She had deep blue eyes and a tanned complexion. She touched her face with her bare hands, feeling skin that was not covered with fur. She was washed over with emotions, not knowing how to handle being human.
"Not so bad after all. I'm...beautiful," Kylia uttered, "Thank you, Ben."
"I just felt...hey! What're you doing?"
In an instant, Kylia stripped herself of her clothing. She stood naked in front of Ben, who gave her a sly smile.
"So this is what human females look like, eh?" Kylia said as she looked into the mirror. She had never known what nude human females looked like, but she made the determination that she had all the features necessary for sex. "So, are you going to do anything with me?" Kylia flashed a smile.
"Come here, you," Ben pulled Kylia towards him and held her for a long, passionate kiss. Kissing the now-human Kylia was much different...but it was the same nonetheless. Their lips continued to touch as Ben undid his jeans. When he threw his t-shirt and underwear onto the ground, he flung himself onto the bed, taking Kylia with him. They rolled around in bed as they kissed again. Ben experienced a different sensation as he touched bare skin as his hands went up and down her back. There was no fur to brush against. Still, he enjoyed the experience. Kylia, finding that though the animal instinct and arousal was gone for the time being, had an orgasm as his body heated hers. It was very different for them to make love to each other this time around. But even though the wolf-girl was gone for a time, a beautiful girl remained with a handsome and prince-like boy. Love and affection was still in the air, and that was all that was important.
"Ben..." Kylia whispered in Ben's ear.
"Yeah?"
"This is why I love you."
