But I would ask you not to "bail him out" of changing so to speak - especially because he did get doused twice and thrown into the sun for good measure. I, for one, think he deserved it and more for what he did, but it's cool. Plus it's a point of view thing. Regardless, remember that: 1- Their mother might well get rightfully angry at the treatment he gave them as well; 2- They have other people to turn to even if she decides to simply abandon them (partly why I put the teacher there, plus, well, child services); 3- She herself does not dislike the changed, and it would be quite inhumane to simply abandon the children. I also ask that you remember that the father started this one. (My personal opinion is that, after what he started off doing, whatever happens is his fault) :P Regardless, it would be adequate to see lots of consequences from this act, yes; but remember that this act was a reaction to a guy crossing a moral event horizon too.
