I just wanted to lay out his defining characteristics. And he is seeking out the magical girls, and as I've said, likely work WITH them, but ultimately he just wants to get to the bottom of this whole mess, thread out the varying chains of interconnected events, and save lives. After his change, he's become sort of a "big picture" guy, with a strange subtle understanding that events are unfolding according to some odd plan, and he's trying to find his part in it all. Oh, I just remembered, the Toby family kids (Dangit I've been away too long, can't remember any names) have fused into a magical gril. So he basically HAS to investigate the family anyway.
