I agree that it's too early to bring back the stone. I think that should happen after the cast has settled into their new roles. Establish the new status quo, then threaten to shatter it with the return of the stone -- and awareness.

Is every single person in Lake Point going to change, or just, say, one out of five people?

The changes don't seem to be simultaneous. I get the impression that one or two people are being changed every few minutes in a different location. (I wrote "two" because Zoe and Mikey were changed simultaneously.) Would a whole group of people inside an office, classroom, or church find themselves all wearing new outfits?
