I dunno...Episode submitted by nothingsp on Sun Oct 23 04:19:38 2011 Return to Parent Episode ...I'd really kind of rather this thing didn't erupt into violence. I have to admit I kind of have a bias against these kinds of anti-transformee prejudice storylines in general, as it seems 90% of them turn out to be shoddy retreads of Marvel's mutant-prejudice storylines. This has actually been surprisingly good about not going that route, but it still seems kind of cheap; the message becomes less "bigotry is bad because it's wrong to treat people badly based on their appearance" and more "bigotry is bad because bigots are totally plotting to kill you, for serious." Not that there isn't historical justification for that, but still. I kind of feel like a stick-in-the-mud for saying that, but I just see damn near every world-change TF story go through these motions, and I'd kind of like it if "Iridescent Sun" took a different approach. Like I said earlier, I kind of tend away from excessive pessimism in my stories... This isn't to say I wouldn't like to see Lucas in a good fight scene, I'd just kind of like it if it could be at some other point with some more worthy adversary than a group of petty-minded assholes with superiority complexes. Then the fight is tabled. | |
