I'm just really not sure what kind of people you think they are. Mr. Gordon made a less than perfectly ethical decision, but he doesn't dine on the innocent and savor children's tears like a fine wine. And his wife seems to get on very well with Muriel. Both of them care deeply for their children, Les so much that his primary problem is that he feels inadequate as a father (evidently the driving force in his even making that poor decision;) why on Earth would they want to cause trouble for one of their daughter's few friends?
