It's not like an ESL learner going to a school where the teachers know both her language and the target language, it's like an ESL learner having to deal with people that don't understand HER either, and have no frame of reference. Furthermore, her new language belongs to no branch whatsoever of any Earth one that might help her create a basis in her mind for it. As such, it's a bit like the pilgrims in the US dealing with the natives, only worse. I'm not a native English speaker (I'm a Brazilian translator of your fine language), so I kinda know. :) That said, I kinda liked my version, in which Anderson knew English fully well, but wouldn't be able to express herself in it anymore. Let's just say I have some odd tastes. But yours added some nice twists I hadn't thought about, such as the angle thing, and had more detail. Ah well, can't win them all. ;) Also True that...
