I appreciate the thought. Sorry for the slow reply, I've been tossing what you've said to myself since you posted.

I'm... not so sure. Using Shi would be awkward and would feel too much like a deux ex machina (literally ;) ) I think for Hiro to truly work, he has to help himself. Shi is a wild card and a 'just in case' measure if the story takes a very bad twist. Nothing extraordinarily bad has happened to warrant her intervention in my view.

I don't see Hiro forging any relationship with the FBI unless he had no other option (and things are dark enough to push him that far.) Even if we explain away some reason, it might just get too light as well. There's a sort of in between I'm trying to get from him.

It might happen if he learns to trust others and such. All perfectly reasonable character growths.

Hiro's duel nature should grant him unique strengths, as his sister hinted. Those aspects might be explored. Or maybe, Hiro really does just suck. Not all transformations are made equal ;)
